Racing is something which defines my year and the Beesands Half marathon is what happens in February with gales , waves and ice cold temperatures but in 2021 we just had silence no activities to aim for, just our daily exercise over the pleasant countryside of Hertfordshire . I suppose we were very lucky to squeeze in the half in 2020 when the pandemic were just murmurs coming out of Wuhan . In 2021 endurancelife managed very cleverly to move the event to May so we could all enjoy a very different looking Beesands . The bracken , foxgloves ,primroses , migrant birds greeted us along the coast path on the usual route out to Start Point and along to Prawle before meandering our way through the undulating farmers fields with view over Dartmoor .

Megan and I still disappointed about the postponement of the Flora London Marathon to later in the year decided to wear our Headway Charity vests and were delighted with the encouragement this brought us as we pushed ourselves up the last long hill before the final decent into the historic fisherman’s village . Megan in her first off road half marathon and actually her first half marathon finished second lady and I was the first over 50 lady and we got to celebrate with a beer or two at the wonderful Cricket Inn
