What a fabulous idea New Years Eve in Beesands ! As you get older this special evening can lose its magic, the teenage nights partying , starting out with new homes and new additions to families then you blink and you are in your 50’s. How do you add excitement to NYE?
Travelling down the M4 early on a Sunday morning and our trip was greeted by a personal best 3.45 door to door must be a good omen.
No 1 greeted us with the familiar warmth from the Aga ,Christmas lights twinkling ,the tireless view of Start Bay and the buzzing Cricket Inn. We were ready for our friends from City of London Poly circa ,1980 we had all aged slightly from our first New Years celebration but definitely not in our minds!
Perfect weekend of walks over to Torcross via a new footpath for me (take the usual path at the far end of Beesands but then after 100 yards or so turn left through a field to the far end and then follow your nose to Widewell and down the hill to Torcross use the OS map on wall ) A lovely pint or glass of Prosecco sitting outside of Start Bay Inn on December 31st ,everywhere was sparkling with the anticipation of a new year .
The wonders of Amazon and their amazing fancy dress department enabled us to don our sailors uniform complete with red stilettos and make a combined entrance to the Cricket full of EasyJet hostesses, Firemen,Policemen ,Unicorns, Chefs to mention a few. Whether it be the dressing up ,the sea air or a combination we can honestly say we all danced and sang all night .
The icing on the cake was to be greeted by blue sky and sunshine for the traditional New Years day walk and swim but with the added bonus of the south west coast path what could be better
