A lovely way to visit Salcombe is by catching the boat from nearby Kingsbridge details of the times can be found by visiting the tourist office or looking online. Last week we enjoyed a beautiful sunny trip down the estuary looking at all the impressive properties , wildlife , boats and people enjoying the water.
We arrived at the Ferry Inn in time for a cold beer and crab sandwich before exploring the shops and active marina of Salcombe . You will need to be aware that this form of transport is tidal and therefore you may have to find alternative return journey . We made our first journey on the local hourly bus service to pick up our car from Kingsbridge long stay car park.
Alternatively another great way to travel is by parking at Gara Rock walking down to East Portlemouth where you can catch the passenger ferry to short journey across to Salcombe . After a couple of hours exploring you can make the return journey and finish off at the newly refurbished Gara Rock Restarant due to open this summer .
